Daniel Schmidt Sentenced for Double Homicide in Oconto County
 

MADISON — On January 21, 2014, Daniel Schmidt appeared before the Hon. Michael Judge for sentencing in the homicides of Kimberly Rose and Leonard Marsh.  Schmidt was convicted by a jury on October 17, 2013, for the murders.  A copy of the criminal complaint can be found here.

 

At the sentencing hearing, Donna Marsh, the mother of both victims, and Donavan Rose, the son of Kimberly Rose, provided victim impact statements to the court.  After hearing arguments from the state and the defense, as well as the victim impact statements, Judge Judge sentenced Schmidt to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of extended supervision.

 

The state was represented by Assistant Attorney General Richard J. Dufour with the Wisconsin Department of Justice.  The case was investigated by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department and the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) of the Wisconsin Department of Justice.  Victim services were provided by the Office of Crime Victim Services at the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
