Special Agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Partner with the Taylor County Sheriff's Department in Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Operation


Thomas J. Stewart, of Rib Lake, Charged with 13 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography


MADISON — On Thursday, May 9, 2013, special agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), with assistance from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant at the home of Thomas J. Stewart, located at 534 State Highway 102 in Rib Lake, Taylor County.


According to the Criminal Complaint, during a forensic preview by a DCI analyst of one of three computer hard drives seized at the home, more than 200 files containing suspected child pornography were located. Thirteen files from a hard drive that was examined by a DCI agent were found to contain child pornography, according to the complaint. In an interview with DCI agents, Stewart admitted to downloading child pornography, stating that he believed he had about 25 videos on his computer. On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, Stewart was charged with 13 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, a felony.


The Taylor County Sheriff’s Department is a member of Wisconsin's ICAC Task Force. Questions concerning this case should be directed to the Taylor County District Attorney's Office. A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence. The prosecution must prove its allegations at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.
