MADISON — Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today that the Wisconsin Department of Justice, acting as special prosecutor for Marinette County, filed a criminal complaint in Marinette County Circuit Court accusing Ryan R. Ilse, a former police officer, with two misdemeanor counts of theft by fraud. Each count carries a maximum penalty of a fine not to exceed $10,000, or imprisonment not to exceed 9 months or both.
According to the Department of Justice criminal complaint, Ryan R. Ilse intentionally obtained money of another person by intentionally deceiving a staff person at Curry’s Foods and at Brown’s Corner with false representations, which were known to be false.
A criminal complaint is a document that makes allegations of criminal conduct. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
This matter was investigated by the City of Marinette Police Department and the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant Attorney General Eric D. Défort represents the State of Wisconsin in this prosecution.
