Special Agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Partner with the Onalaska Police Department in Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Operation

 

Michael C. Abbott Arrested, Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

 

MADISON — On Tuesday, March 26, 2013, special agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), with assistance from the Onalaska Police Department, executed a search warrant at the home of Michael C. Abbott, located at 647 Sand Lake Road in the City of Onalaska. 

 

According to the Criminal Complaint, a DCI agent reviewed 12 images recovered from an external hard drive found at the residence, and reported the images to be consistent with images of child pornography.  In an interview with a DCI special agent, Abbott admitted to downloading child pornography for “a while.”  On Wednesday, March 27, 2013, Abbott was charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography, a felony.    

 

The Onalaska Police Department is a member of Wisconsin's ICAC Task Force.  Questions concerning this case should be directed to the La Crosse County District Attorney's Office.  A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence.  The prosecution must prove its allegations at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.
