Special Agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Partner with the Dane County Sheriff's Office in Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Operation

Benjamin R. Minor, of Mazomanie, Charged with 10 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography

MADISON — On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, special agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), with assistance from deputies with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at the home of Benjamin R. Minor, located at 17 Marion Street in Mazomanie. 

According to the Criminal Complaint, agents seized an external hard drive from the residence, at which point Minor told investigators he has approximately two hundred pornographic images on the drive, including those of juveniles.  A forensic review of images recovered from the seized external hard drive uncovered images consistent with child pornography, according to the complaint.  In an interview with agents, Minor admitted to sharing images of juvenile females approximately 13-years-old and older.    

On Friday, March 22, 2013, Minor was charged with 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, a felony.  A preliminary hearing in this case is scheduled for March 28, 2013, at 9:30 am in Dane County Circuit Court.    

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is a member of Wisconsin's ICAC Task Force.  Questions concerning this case should be directed to the Dane County District Attorney's Office.  A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence.  The prosecution must prove its allegations at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.
