Special Agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Partner with the Mt. Horeb Police Department in Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Operation

 

Richard E. Desensi, of Mt. Horeb, Charged with Two Counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child

 

MADISON — On Wednesday, July 10, 2013, special agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), with assistance from the Mt. Horeb Police Department, executed a search warrant at the home of Richard E. Desensi.

 

According to the Criminal Complaint, during an interview with DCI special agents, the defendant stated his primary use of Tumblr and Flickr is to view and exchange pornography. When asked about the search warrant being executed at his home, “the defendant stated, ‘probably because of questionable Tumblr activity’ which he clarified as ‘borderline child pornography,’” according to the complaint.

 

The investigation began after DCI special agents received a CyberTipline Report from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) suggesting the presence of suspected child pornography associated with a Tumblr account.

 

On Friday, July 12, 2013, Desensi was charged with two counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child, a felony. An initial appearance in this case is scheduled for today at 1:30 pm.

 

Questions concerning this case should be directed to the Dane County District Attorney's Office. A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence. The prosecution must prove its allegations at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.
