MADISON — The State of Wisconsin has obtained a judgment by default against Laura Schuster, finding that Schuster has failed to comply with an order issued by the Department of Financial Institutions (“DFI”) regarding her unlicensed adjustment service (“debt adjustment”) company.
The judgment, which was entered on February 8, 2013, by Dane County Circuit Court Judge John Albert, finds that Schuster and her now-dissolved company, Midwest Homeowner Solutions, LLC, operated an unlicensed adjustment service company, collecting illegal fees from Wisconsin consumers. The judgment requires Schuster to cease unlicensed adjustment service company business, refund all fees to customers, and pay $12,827.50 in civil forfeiture, plus court fees. The State of Wisconsin was represented in this matter by Assistant Attorney General Lewis W. Beilin.
