Suspect Arrested in Homicide Investigation

 

Update — In the evening hours on Thursday, August 8, 2013, a male suspect was arrested in reference to this ongoing homicide investigation.  The individual was booked into the Portage County Jail on tentative charges of first degree reckless homicide and hiding a corpse, both felonies.  No other information is being released at this time as the investigation is ongoing by law enforcement and the Portage County District Attorney.  More information will be available if and when a criminal complaint is filed. 

 

The victim of this homicide has been identified as 36-year-old Jamie Koch, of Plover.  The family of Jamie Koch has given permission to use the following photo:

While no formal charges have yet been filed, a defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

 

Earlier News Release

 

On Wednesday, August 7, at 11:12 am, the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate what was reported to be a burned vehicle, located in the Town of Harrison.  Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered the body of a deceased woman inside of the vehicle.

 

An autopsy to determine a cause of death is pending; however, investigators consider the death a homicide.  The victim is a 36-year-old woman from Plover.  Her identity is not being released at this time. 

 

The Wisconsin State Crime Lab, in coordination with the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, the Village of Plover Police Department and the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), has responded to a second location, an apartment in the Village of Plover, to conduct further investigation.
