News Conference TOMORROW at Wisconsin State Crime Lab -- Milwaukee


 MADISON — Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen is pleased to invite area media to join him, representatives from the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and representatives from law enforcement to discuss the next national prescription drug “Take Back Day,” being held nationwide this Saturday, September 29, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wisconsin residents have proven to be national leaders in this important effort to rid household cabinets of expired, unwanted or unneeded prescription drugs, dropping them off in record volumes for proper disposal.


Attorney General Van Hollen, Assistant Special Agent in Charge James F. Bohn from the DEA and Regional Director Eric Nitschke from the Wisconsin DNR encourage media to attend tomorrow's news conference to learn more about the dangers associated with the abuse of prescription drugs

According to the DEA, the federal agency leading this nationwide effort, citizens across the country turned in a record 552,161 pounds (276 tons) of unwanted or expired medications at the last Take Back Day in April 2012. In Wisconsin, a record 37,642 pounds, or 18.7 tons, worth of prescription drugs were dropped off at collection sites throughout the state.
