MADISON — Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen issued the following statement today in observance of Veterans Day, November 11, 2012:
“On Veterans Day, every citizen is reminded to say ‘I am grateful for your service' to America's veterans who have or are currently serving our country. I send this message of deep gratitude to convey my own appreciation, and to encourage others to do the same. Please take a moment to personally acknowledge and honor the many veterans in our workplaces, homes and communities. As Attorney General, I want to especially recognize the veterans who are currently working in law enforcement and other public service positions, both at the Department of Justice and elsewhere. The principles that lead a person to make personal sacrifices to protect our safety and to defend our liberty are the same passions that lead one to enter a career in public service. On that point, we all share a similar ideal. On this day of observance, remember the special risks borne by those in uniform as well as the sacrifices made by their families, all of whom have committed a part of their life to the safety and security of this great country.”
