Green Bay Man Convicted of Sexual Assault

MADISON — Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today that David Lonzo, of Green Bay, appeared in Oconto County Circuit Court today, entered a plea of no contest and was convicted of second degree sexual assault. Sentencing is scheduled for June 25, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. The maximum penalty is 40 years imprisonment or a fine not to exceed $100,000.

According to the Department of Justice's criminal complaint, the victim is developmentally delayed and receives Medicaid-funded living assistance through Visions of Northeast Wisconsin. David Lonzo was an employee assigned to provide day-to-day living assistance to residents of a facility Visions operates in Oconto Falls. The victim lived in an apartment that was part of the facility. According to the complaint, on January 23, 2011, the sexual assault occurred at the victim's apartment. The victim then reported the incident to a former caregiver who reported it to Visions supervisory personnel.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Thomas Storm.
