Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen Invites Public to Listening Session for Criminal Justice Coordinating Council

Listening session begins at 5:30 p.m. TONIGHT in Eau Claire

MADISON — Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen and other members of the new, statewide Criminal Justice Coordinating Council invite the public to turn out tonight for the first in a series of listening sessions across the state. Tonight's listening session is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at The Florian Gardens, located at 2340 Lorch Avenue in Eau Claire.

In April, Governor Scott Walker signed Executive Order #62, creating the Council.The Council is designed to explore ways to improve planning, coordination and cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the state. Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen and Department of Corrections Secretary Gary Hamblin co-chair the 20-member Council. Members of law enforcement and criminal justice-oriented agencies and organizations as well as local leaders and members of the public are encouraged to attend these listening sessions.

Tonight's listening session follows a meeting of the full Council, which will gather at least four times a year, and will be assisted and staffed largely by the Office of Justice Assistance.
