Eric Rene Casillas Arrested, Facing Charge of Possession of Child Pornography
MADISON — On Thursday, February 16, 2012, Special Agents with the Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), along with law enforcement from the Marinette County Sheriff's Department and Niagara Police Department, responded to the home of Eric Rene Casillas, located at 1016 Prospect Street in Niagara, WI, after investigating a tip about the suspected online sharing of images of child pornography.
According to the Criminal Complaint, forensic previews performed on three computers, two MP3 players and two cellular telephones at the home revealed the presence of child pornography. According to the Complaint, Casillas admitted to a DCI agent that he has intentionally downloaded and viewed child pornography for about a year.
Casillas was arrested and taken to the Marinette County Jail. Casillas is facing charges of Possession of Child Pornography, a felony, and 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child, also a felony. An initial appearance is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9:30 in Branch One of the Marinette County Courthouse.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) also assisted in the investigation. Questions concerning this case should be directed to the Marinette County District Attorney's Office. A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence. The prosecution must prove its allegations at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.
