Probation Agent Charged in Marathon County with Misconduct, Burglary and Drug Crimes

MADISON — Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen has announced the filing of a complaint charging Kim M. Hoenisch with misconduct in public office, burglary, possession of narcotic drugs, and possession of a drug without a prescription. The complaint filed in Marathon County today contained three felony and two misdemeanor counts.

According to the complaint, Hoenisch was employed by the State of Wisconsin as a probation agent with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC) in the Division of Community Corrections (DCC) within the Wausau Regional Field Office.

The complaint alleges that Hoenisch burglarized the house of a probationer on Saturday, June 30, 2012. Hoenisch reportedly entered the residence in search of pain medication. The complaint alleges that Hoenisch later took the probationer's medication when the probationer was at her office on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. The complaint states that Hoenisch's actions constituted misconduct because they were inconsistent with her duties as a probation agent.

The criminal complaint includes charges for possession of narcotic drugs and a drug without a prescription. The complaint describes the medications primarily as the narcotic drugs hydrocodone and oxycodone. Hoenisch reportedly took the medication without a prescription.

The Department of Justice -- Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) investigated this case. Assistant Attorney General Winn Collins represents the State of Wisconsin in this prosecution.

While Hoenisch has been charged with criminal offenses, she is presumed innocent at this time. The State has the burden to prove him guilty of the offenses beyond a reasonable doubt.
