Department Of Justice Files Reply Brief In Support Of Petition For Supervisory Writ In Act 10 Open Meetings Litigation

MADISON – The Department of Justice, on behalf of petitioners State of Wisconsin and Secretary of Administration Michael Huebsch, filed a reply brief today with the Supreme Court in support of their Petition for Supervisory Writ. The Petition seeks to vacate orders of the Circuit Court of Dane County, Judge Sumi presiding, in an Open Meetings Law action brought by Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne.

The Department of Justice concurrently submitted a letter advising the Supreme Court of yesterday's decision issued by the Dane County Circuit Court declaring Act 10 invalid. The letter enumerates errors made in the Court's decision that, according to the letter, underscore the need for the Wisconsin Supreme Court to exercise its superintending authority and issue immediate relief.
