MADISON — Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today that a Milwaukee County woman has been convicted of the possession of Oxycodone without a valid prescription. Cristina M. Zabel, 41, 2851 South 12th Street, Milwaukee, pleaded guilty to one felony count of Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic Drug Without a Prescription. Sentencing has been set for August 20, 2011.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice's criminal complaint, Zabel was a nurse working as a caregiver at the Mary Jude Nursing Home located at 9806 West Lincoln Avenue, West Allis, Wisconsin. Between January 12 and 28, 2010, Zabel ordered a nursing patient's prescription for Oxycodone to be refilled on six separate occasions. However, instead of giving the pills to the patient for pain relief, she keep the for her own personal use.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Gabrysiak.
