CABLE – On 01/19/2011, at approximately 9:55 a.m., Agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation, with assistance from the Bayfield, Douglas and Sawyer County Sheriff's Departments and the Superior Police Department, served a search warrant at 10055 Ole Lake Road, Cable, Bayfield County, WI.
Law enforcement interviewed Daniel J. Sabo at the scene. According to the criminal complaint, Sabo admitted searching for, downloading and viewing approximately 25 child pornography image and/or video files via two online software file sharing programs which he had installed onto his computer. Sabo informed agents that the child pornography files contained children under the age of 17, the youngest being about one year old, engaging in sexual activity. According to the complaint, Sabo stated that he knew it was wrong to view child pornography.
An on-scene analysis of the computer hard drive revealed in excess of 17 videos of child pornography, including known child pornography. Sabo was transported to the Bayfield County Jail pending formal charging by the Bayfield County District Attorney's Office.
Items seized as a result of the search include one computer hard drive, indicia, miscellaneous paperwork, Kodak digital camera, Vivitar digital camera, numerous DVD's and CD's, one VHS tape, one Kodak 1 gb memory card, one tower for a desk top computer.
Mr. Sabo was arrested and charged with Ten Counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
