CUSTER – On Tuesday, 02/01/2011, Special Agents with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation assisted by the Steven Point Police Department and the Portage County Sheriff’s Department, executed a P2P search warrant at the residence of Griff Firkus, located at 1777 Evergreen Court in Custer, Portage County, WI.
According to the criminal complaint, in Firkus’ bedroom a desktop and a laptop computer were located, which according to the complaint, Firkus stated were used solely by him. A DCI analyst conducted an on-scene search of one of the computer’s hard-drive and located numerous files containing child pornography.
Firkus stated he used Frostwire to look for pornography. According to the complaint, at the time of the search warrant execution Firkus believed there were numerous video files containing child pornography on his computer, though he was unable to give a count. According to the complaint, Mr. Firkus stated he downloaded child pornography because it was “something to look at.”
Mr. Firkus was arrested and charged with Ten Counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
