MADISON — On December 15, 2011, the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a criminal complaint charging Jerry E. Friedl of Sparta with four felony counts of second degree sexual assault.
According to the criminal complaint, Jerry E. Friedl was employed as a Monroe County jailer when he had intimate sexual contact with a Monroe County jail inmate on four separate occasions between August 5th and 17th, 2011.
This case was investigated by the Vernon County Sheriff's Department and Monroe County Sheriff's Department. Assistant Attorney General Karie Cattanach represents the State of Wisconsin in this prosecution.
While Mr. Friedl has been charged with criminal offenses, he is presumed innocent at this time, and the State will need to prove him guilty of the offenses beyond a reasonable doubt. An initial appearance will be held in the Monroe County Circuit Court on Friday, December 23rd, 2011, at 8:00 a.m.
