MADISON – CBS’s program 48 Hours Mystery will profile the cold case homicide investigation of Marilyn McIntyre on Saturday, April 30th at 9 p.m. in a feature entitled “Last Chance for Justice.”
On March 11th, 1980 Marilyn McIntrye was murdered. McIntrye was 18 years of age when she was brutally beaten, strangled and stabbed in her home in the early morning while her 3 month old son slept nearby. The case was investigated in 1980 and after a few years went cold. The case was reopened by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in late 2007. On March 24th, 2009 Curtis Forbes a long time family friend of McIntyre’s was arrested. Forbes was found guilty by a Jefferson County jury sitting in Columbia County Circuit Court.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation teamed with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department and the Columbus Police Department in a joint investigation. The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Criminal Litigation Unit teamed with the Columbia County District Attorney’s office in the prosecution of Forbes.
