Micah Stern Sentenced to Ten Years in Prison For Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime

Stern Arrested at Cedarburg McDonalds After Posting Ad to Craigslist

CEDARBURG – Ozaukee County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Wolfgram today sentenced Micah Stern of New York City to ten years in state prison followed by 15 years of extended supervision for his conviction of Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime.

On December 10, 2009, the Wisconsin Department of Justice was contacted by the Cedarburg Police Department regarding a possible child enticement investigation on Craig's List. Cedarburg Police had observed an add for "Coach seeking boy - 39 (Cedarburg, Port Washington Area)."

A Wisconsin Department of Justice Special Agent signed onto the milwaukee.craigslist.org in the Milwaukee DCI Office, and observed the ad referred to by the Cedarburg Police Department. The DCI Special Agent exchanged emails with this unidentified male who referred to himself as "Shane" in the emails. The Special Agent requested the assistance of another DCI Special Agent for undercover work involving “Shane” who wanted to meet with an underage boy to engage in sexual activity. The man "Shane" was expecting to speak with the undercover officer "Peter", whom "Shane" believed to be a 14 year old boy. The purpose of the telephone call was to finalize the details of the upcoming meet between "Shane" and "Peter".

The DCI Special Agent performing the undercover work did receive a call on the undercover cell phone from "Shane". A meet at the Cedarburg MacDonald's at 9:00 pm was arranged.

Shane later identified as MICAH STERN did arrive at the MacDonald's, walked into the bathroom, and then left. He was stopped and later arrested. A search warrant was obtained for computers located at the home where Stern was staying. Stern was from New York City in Cedarburg to attend his uncle's funeral. He denied attempting to meet with a boy.

Stern was arrested and charged with Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime.

The case was prosecuted by Ozaukee County District Attorney Adam Gerol.
