Joint Release from the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Columbia County Sheriff's Office
PARDEEVILLE – On Saturday, November 13, 2010 at approximately 6 p.m. Deputies from the Columbia County Sheriff's office attempted to contact an individual at a residence at W5298 Highway 33 in the Town of Marcellon in Columbia County regarding outstanding Felony Warrants. Contact was made with the owner of the property who indicated that no one was around.
Today, a Deputy and Lieutenant from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office responded to the residence and were given consent to search the house when they encountered the suspect in the stairwell. Shots were exchanged and as a result the suspect is now deceased.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation was requested by Columbia County Sheriff Dennis Richards to handle the investigation of the officer involved shooting. DOJ-DCI currently has six special agents and a Director from the Division of Criminal Investigation on the scene.
