NORTH FREEDOM - Edward A. Rote was arrested July 22, 2010 after he was found to possess child pornography. On June 24, 2010, Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) agents, with the assistance of the Sauk County Sheriff's Department, executed a search warrant at the residence of Edward A. Rote at 130 High St, North Freedom, WI. Edward Rote also consented to the search of a computer by DCI on June 25. The Village of Eagle Police Department aided with the investigation following the search warrant.
According to the criminal complaint, Edward A. Rote consented to a search of his computer, which revealed numerous images and videos of child pornography. Rote admitted to downloading, viewing, and deleting child pornography from his computer as well as acknowledging that he knew it was illegal to possess child pornography. Rote has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography.
