MANITOWOC — Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today that a Manitowoc woman has been charged with Medicaid Assistance Fraud. Sarah Becker, 37, 3303 Hecker Road Manitowoc, is scheduled to appear before Sheboygan County Circuit Court Judge Timothy Van Akkeren on January 10 to face the charge which stems from her employment as a Registered Nurse.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice's criminal complaint, Becker was employed by Nurses in Independent Practice as a private duty nurse. Becker submitted timesheets indicating that between July 26, 2008 and May 13, 2010, she had provided medical services to the clients she was assigned to care for during the same hours that timesheets showed her working at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center Hospital. Becker was paid $15,527.75 for those hours she claimed to have worked as a private duty nurse.
A criminal complaint is a document alleging violation of the criminal law and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Gabrysiak.
