Ronald R. Houswerth of Rothschild Arrested in Pewaukee – Charged with Using a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime
WAUSAU/PEWAUKEE – On Thursday, 12/02/2010, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) received a request for assistance from the Village of Pewaukee Police Department regarding the investigation of a subject for Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime, where the suspect was believed to live in Rothschild, WI.
According to the criminal complaint, an Officer from the Village of Pewaukee Police Department had been acting in an undercover capacity posing as a 14 year old female and communicating via computer with a male they had identified as Ronald R. Houswerth, W/M, DOB 03/03/1968, who lived at 18 Becker Street, Apartment 2, Rothschild, Marathon County, WI. The officer explained that pursuant to the investigation tentative plans had been made for Houswerth to travel to Pewaukee, WI on Friday, 12/03/2010, for the purpose of meeting and having sexual relations with the 14 year old female. The officer requested assistance from DCI in the preparation and execution of a search warrant at Houswerth's residence if he followed through with the plans to meet the 14 year old for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity.
According to the complaint, on Friday, 12/03/2010, further communication via computer and cellular telephone text messaging indicated that Houswerth was likely traveling to Pewaukee for the purpose of meeting the 14 year old female. Village of Pewaukee initiated surveillance in the area of the middle school as well as the primary routes into the Village. At approximately 11:45 a.m. Village of Pewaukee Police observed Houswerth and subsequently arrested him pursuant to their investigation.
According to the criminal complaint, during the interview of Houswerth he admitted having on-line communication with a person whom he believed was a 14 year old female and traveling to Pewaukee for the purpose of engaging in sexual acts with her. Houswerth also admitted that he had what he identified as child pornography on his computer in his apartment.
At approximately 3:06 p.m. Special Agents of DCI, along with officers from the Rothschild Police Department and the Wausau Police Department made entry into Houswerth's apartment located at 18 Becker Street, Apartment 2, Rothschild, Marathon County, WI. A search of the apartment was conducted and items of evidentiary value were seized.
Mr. Houswerth was arrested and charged with Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime.
