SHAWANO – The Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Shawano County Sheriff's Office is confirming that the name of the subject involved in this morning's shooting incident is James W. Kumm, a 55-year-old male from Clintonville.
The investigation remains ongoing. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pursuant to the Shawano County Sheriff Office's policy.
On August 23, 2010 at approximately 5:53 a.m. the Shawano County Sheriff's Office received a request for assistance from the Waupaca County Sheriff's Office, which had received a call at 5:02 a.m. for a welfare check.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice at the request of Shawano County Sheriff Randy Wright was called and asked to handle the investigation of the officer involved shooting and to process the scene.
