Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Arrests Harry J. Janikowski of Oak Creek During Undercover Operation

OAK CREEK - Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today that Harry J. Janikowski, 62, or Oak Creek was arrested on September 16, 2009 for using a computer connected to the Internet to entice a minor into unlawful sexual conduct.

Janikowski was arrested at the Brookfield Square shopping center at approximately 5 p.m. as he attempted to meet with a minor for the purpose of engaging in unlawful sexual activity, according to the affidavit submitted in support of the criminal complaint against Mr. Janikowski.

This traveler case began with an anonymous letter sent to a Special Agent with the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in April, 2009. An undercover operation began earlier this summer, with a friend request to Janikowski on MySpace from what he believed to be a 14 year old high school boy from Brookfield.

The online relationship moved to e-mail, Yahoo! Messenger, and Camfrog Messenger, as Janikowski engage the "boy" in explicit chat and exposing himself on a web camera. Janikowski solicited the boy and arranged to pick him up outside the Food Court in Brookfield Square Mall.

Federal search warrants were executed at Janikowski's residence in Oak Creek and at his business, Regal Printing, in South Milwaukee.

The federal charge against Janikowski is the result of a joint investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the United States Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Brookfield Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan H. Koenig.
