Teacher Sentenced for Sexual Assault

LAFAYETTE COUNTY - Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today that Todd Strang, 37, of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, was sentenced by Lafayette County Circuit Court Judge William D. Johnston on two counts of having sexual intercourse with a high school student over the age of 16 while he was employed as a teacher at that same high school.  Sentence was withheld on both counts and Strang was placed on probation for five (5) years.  Strang's conditions of probation are to serve eight (8) months in the county jail concurrent on both counts with Huber privileges.  Further, Strang is to comply with all rules of supervision as determined by the Department of Corrections and register as a sex offender. Strang pled guilty to the charges earlier this year.

The assaults occurred when Todd Strang was a teacher at a high school in Lafayette County in 2000 and 2001 and engaged in sexual intercourse at his residence with a student during her junior and senior year at the high school while Strang was employed as a teacher.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Dennis Krueger as special prosecutor for Lafayette County and was investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation.
