MIDDLETON - The Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault has awarded Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen its Voices of Courage Award for 2009. The Attorney General accepted the award at the Coalition's Voices of Courage, Portraits of Change Fundraiser Gala Friday, May 15, 2009 in Middleton, Wisconsin.
“I am pleased, honored and humbled to receive this recognition from WCASA. We share a deep concern for victims of sexual assault - especially our most vulnerable victims, our children. I'm proud to work with a group so committed to both combating and healing the wounds of one of society's most egregious criminal acts,” Attorney General Van Hollen said.
Ms. Jeanie Kurka Reimer, Executive Director and Ms. Armintie Moore-Hammonds, Associate Director of WCASA personally presented the award on behalf of the coalition. Ms. Moore-Hammonds also serves as a member of the Attorney General's Victim Rights Council.
The award citation reads as follows:
For his leadership and passion towards ending sexual violence. For his dedication in supporting legal changes that will help to end violence against women and children. For recognizing and prioritizing the need to protect Wisconsin's children from online predators. Furthermore, for his commitment to WCASA and our mission to create the social change necessary to end sexual violence.
