New Trial Date yet to be Determined
MARINETTE - Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today that on March 17, 2009, Marinette County Circuit Court, Judge Tim Duket adjourned the jury trial set in State of Wisconsin v. Joseph Wayne Evans, Jr. The trial had originally been set to commence on Monday, April 27, 2009. Judge Duket also granted a motion to allow Evans' lead attorney, Kent Hoffman, to withdraw as counsel. A status/scheduling conference has been set for April 20, 2009, at 3:00 p.m.
Evans currently stands charged with a count of first degree intentional homicide of his wife Dina Evans and a count of criminal damage to the property of Dina Evans. The charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
