Statement Regarding Today's Guilty Finding Of Larry Lupton

  MADISON - "My office started the investigation into Larry Lupton's illegal behavior.  We built this case with the FBI, and I congratulate the U.S. Attorney's Office for successfully prosecuting this case and obtaining today's guilty finding.

This is a case of corruption, a case where Mr. Lupton tried to cheat the public contracting system to illegally enrich himself.  Fraud like that will not be tolerated. My office will continue to investigate these cases.  Now more than ever, as government money flows to contractors, laws against fraud must be enforced.

Our work and today's guilty finding ought to send a strong signal to those looking to cheat taxpayers to get their hands on public money illegally.  If you try it, the most you may get is public housing in prison."
