Statement By Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen Regarding Wisconsin State Senate Action On The State Budget

I'm disappointed that the Senate did not follow the lead of the Assembly and rescind those cuts to the DOJ budget that were above those assessed against all other public safety agencies. The Department of Justice is the state's lead public safety agency and is an essential element of the law enforcement community in this state. I remain hopeful that the Conference Committee will adopt the Assembly's version of the budget bill so the DOJ's law enforcement mission will not be crippled.
