Smedley D. Butler of the Town of Gibson in Manitowoc County Arrested
MANITOWOC On May 21, 2009, law enforcement officers from the Division of Criminal Investigation, Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement, executed a search warrant at 5810 Old Y Road, the residence of Smedley D. Butler, located in the Town of Gibson, Manitowoc County, WI.
During a search of computer hard drives and storage devices, sexually explicit images of children (child pornography) were located.
According to the criminal complaint, Butler was subsequently interviewed, and stated that he had purchased Internet memberships to child pornography websites. Butler stated that he had downloaded photos from the sites, saved the images to his computer, and burned them to CDs.
Questions concerning this case should be directed towards the Manitowoc County District Attorney's Office.
A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence. The prosecution must prove its allegations at trail beyond a reasonable doubt.
Mr. Butler was arrested and charged with 10 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
