Attorney General responds to actions by
the Joint Committee on Finance on the Budget Bill
MADISON Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen was interviewed today for Wisconsin Eyes Newsmakers program. During the program the Attorney General shared concerns about the Joint Committee on Finances actions regarding the Wisconsin Department of Justice budget and expressed hope the full Legislature would change the JFC version of the Department of Justices budget passed late last week on a party-line vote.
That the Wisconsin Department of Justice would not be considered a law enforcement agency is insulting and incorrect, the Attorney General responded when questioned by WisPolitics J.R. Ross about what he found most offensive or egregious about the committees actions. Every other law enforcement agency in state government and many agencies with no law enforcement mission were exempted from the five-percent across-the-board cuts remarkably Justice is the only law enforcement agency facing these cuts and Im the only Republican running one.
