WI DOJ Agents Partner With Sheboygan Area Law Enforcement in Narcotics Investigation

13 Arrested Following 18-Month Investigation Into Cocaine Trafficking

SHEBOYGAN - On July 30, 2009, beginning at approximately 5 a.m. special agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice along with officers from the Sheboygan Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) Unit, Sheboygan Police Department, Sheboygan Sheriff's Office, Sheboygan Falls Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, DEA and the US Marshals office arrested 13 people following an 18-Month investigation into cocaine trafficking in the Sheboygan area.

The focus of the investigation was a group of individuals suspected of transporting 20-30 kilos (a kilo is 2.2 pounds) of cocaine from the Chicago area to Sheboygan County over a 1-2 year period. The cocaine had an estimated street value of over $600,000. In addition, the investigation resulted in the seizure of over $30,000 in cash and assets, a stolen handgun and six cars.

Those arrested included the sources, transporters and street level dealers. To date, four individuals have been charged in Federal Court.

The arrests were a culmination of an 18-month investigation done in conjunction with the Sheboygan MEG Unit, DEA and the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence. The prosecution must prove its allegations at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.
