WI DOJ Agents Partner With West Central Drug Task Force and Eau Claire Police Department in Eau Claire Area Narcotics Investigation

 

EAU CLAIRE - On July 23, 2009, Joshua P. Kranig of Mondovi was arrested by Wisconsin Department of Justice Special Agents in partnership with the West Central Drug Task Force and the Eau Claire Police Department. Kranig was charged with the Manufacture/Delivery of Cocaine and with Possession With Intent to Deliver Cocaine.

 

During an undercover narcotics operation a Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation Special Agent drove to the Shopko parking lot on Clairemont Avenue, in the City of Eau Claire. According to the criminal complaint, it was at this location that the DCI Special Agent met with Kranig and purchased approximately 93.6 grams of a substance which field tested positive for the presence of cocaine.

 

Immediately following the transaction, Kranig was arrested. While law enforcement officers were attempting to arrest Mr. Kranig, he attempted to conceal a substance in a glass of soda. According to the criminal complaint, during a subsequent interview, Kranig admitted he was concealing cocaine in the glass of soda.

 

After Kranig was arrested, he was transported to the Eau Claire Police Department. According to the criminal complaint, during an interview at the Eau Claire Police Department, Kranig admitted that he had delivered between three to four pounds of cocaine in the Eau Claire area during the previous six to seven months.

A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence. The prosecution must prove its allegations at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.
