MADISON - At the request of the Richland County Sheriff's Department the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the fatal shooting of 51 year old Douglas A. Lisney in the Town of Akan in rural Richland County on Monday, July 13.
Based on the investigation to date, on Monday, July 13 at approximately 4:55 p.m. Richland County deputies responded to a request for assistance with a subject, subsequently identified as Mr. Lisney. Mr. Lisney was allegedly armed, intoxicated, and had physically assaulted a child.
Deputies responded to the scene and during the course of their investigation had contact with Mr. Lisney. A confrontation ensued between deputies and Lisney that resulted in the fatal shooting of Lisney.
Special Agents from the Eau Claire and Madison DCI field offices are working in cooperation with the Richland County Sheriff's Department in the investigation of the officer involved shooting that resulted in the death of Mr. Lisney. The State Crime Lab assisted in the processing of the scene.
Special Agents are conducting interviews of individuals that were present at the scene as well as associates of Mr. Lisney.
An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday, July 14 and the results of the autopsy are pending.
Once the investigation is completed, the investigative reports will be referred to the Richland County District Attorney for review.
The deputies are cooperating fully with the investigation.
