Van Hollen to Throw Out First Pitch

750 Badges for Baseball Program participants to be the guests of the Milwaukee Brewers 

MADISON - At the generous invitation of the Milwaukee Brewers baseball club, Badges for Baseball participants will be guests of the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park for their July 7, 2009 game versus the St. Louis Cardinals. This event will highlight the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation's Badges for Baseball program in Milwaukee. As a part of pre-game ceremonies, Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen, a Badges for Baseball Program co-sponsor, has been invited to throw out the traditional first pitch.

Badges for Baseball is a partnership between Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen, the Cal Ripken Senior Foundation, Milwaukee Police Association, Milwaukee Professional Firefighters Association and seven City of Milwaukee Community Based Organizations.   The program provides between 700 and 800 young children in Milwaukee an opportunity to build character and learn life's critical lessons while being mentored by public safety officials in each of the police districts throughout the City of Milwaukee.  This partnership sets out to build relationships and mutual respect between children and law enforcement all while providing a structured setting of learning, curriculum and value of teamwork.
