Division Of Criminal Investigation Arrests City Of Racine Mayor Gary Becker

 

MADISON - Last night, agents of the Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation arrested Racine Mayor Gary Becker at Brookfield Square Mall in Brookfield. After his arrest, Mr. Becker was booked at the Kenosha County Jail on charges including child enticement, possession of child pornography, exposing a child to harmful materials, attempted second degree sexual assault of a child, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and misconduct in public office.  The Racine County Sheriffs Department provided law enforcement assistance to the Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children agents in this matter. 

 

The matter has been referred to the Racine County District Attorney Michael Nieskes Office for evaluation and potential prosecution. 

 

An arrest is an initial stage in a criminal proceeding.  Mr. Becker is entitled to a presumption of innocence.

 

If charges are filed, Mr. Beckers initial appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Racine County Law Enforcement Center.
