Missing & Abducted Children Training Session

DARLINGTON - The Wisconsin Department of Justice along with the La Fayette County Law Enforcement Administrator's Association will be holding a training session entitled "Crimes Against Children" on March 5 & 6 in Darlington.

The training geared towards first responders, call takers and investigators will feature Wayne Sheppard, Associate Director, Training & Outreach for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. A course outline for Mr. Sheppard's presentation is attached.

"Nationally recognized speakers along with Department of Justice experts in the field of crimes against children will be on hand to discuss one of the most important issues in Wisconsin today:  Keeping our children safe from predators in our communities, at school and on-line," said Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen. "As Attorney General one of the most important parts of my job is working with local law enforcement statewide to help protect our children from crime."

The training will include sessions on missing children intra-agency response, types of missing & abducted child incidents, Wisconsin's Amber Alert, child fatality investigations, child sex offender typologies, Internet Predators/My Space/Social Networking and computer forensic evidence.

"The Wisconsin Department of Justice is making great strides forward in the work we do with our Clearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children and Adults, our Internet Crimes Against Children's Task Force and our state of the art Amber Alert," said Van Hollen.
