Joint Statement by Menomonee Falls Police Chief Anna Ruzinski and Wisconsin DOJ State Fire Marshal Tina Virgil

MENOMONEE FALLS - The Menomonee Falls Police and Fire Departments, along with the State of Wisconsin Department of Justice Fire Marshal's Office are investigating a residential fire that occurred on Sunday, December 27, 2009, at W209N5490 Goetz Court, in the Village of Menomonee Falls.  Fire Department personnel from Menomonee Falls and Lannon were called to the scene after 5:17 am when a Menomonee Falls police officer spotted the fire and notified dispatch.   

Various other fire departments were called to assist the initial responding departments and the fire was controlled within the first hour and extinguished within three hours. The listed owner of the home, Latasha Jackson is meeting with investigators. The home has been ruled uninhabitable by the building inspector. There is no damage estimate at this time. 

The State Fire Marshal was contacted to assist in the investigation due to the magnitude of damage and the limited resources of the investigating agencies.  This is a common practice.  As of the time of this release the cause and origin of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.   

As information becomes available, the Wisconsin Department of Justice will release those details.
