Timothy Letz Of Fond du Lac Charged With 20 Counts Of Possession Of Child Pornography



Timothy S. Letz of Fond du Lac Arrested


FOND DU LAC - On April 2, 2009, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation,  assisted by the Fond du Lac Police Department, executed a State authorized search warrant at the residence of Timothy S. Letz, 947 Martin Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI. Undercover peer-to-peer computer investigation engaged in during the summer of 2008 identified a computer, later identified by subpoena as being located in Letz's residence, as participating in the offer to share files of known child pornography via a peer-to-peer file sharing network.


Subsequent investigation by DCI identified the suspect residence as 947 Martin Ave, Fond du Lac. The Division of Criminal Investigation obtained a search warrant in Fond du Lac County seeking evidence of the crime of Possession of Child Pornography. The search warrant was executed, at which time agents located in excess of 100 CD-R and DVD-R in the basement of the residence. A forensic preview of a random sample of the CDs revealed numerous images of child pornography and child erotica. The area of the residence was identified through documents as being under the control of Timothy Letz was subsequently non-custodially interviewed at his workplace, where he denied intentionally possessing child pornography. Letz was arrested as he returned to the residence, and ultimately confessed to knowingly possessing images of child pornography and saving them to CD's. Following the custodial interview, Letz was transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail.


During the execution of the search warrant and the search of the residence, agents located several baggies of marijuana and in excess of 20 weapons. In addition, there were police scanners in both bedrooms, the living room, and the basement.  Fond du Lac Police obtained a second search warrant for the guns and drugs, took possession of both, and will be filing charges for the possession of those items in the near future.

A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence. The prosecution must prove its allegations at trail beyond a reasonable doubt.



Mr. Letz was arrested and charged with 20 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
