MADISON - Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen has appointed Walt Neverman as the Director of the Crime Information Bureau for the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Neverman will begin his new duties on Monday, October 13, 2008. Walt currently serves as the TIME & Technical Services Manager for the Department of Justice.
The Crime Information Bureau houses Wisconsin's statewide criminal history repository. In addition, the Crime Information Bureau operates the TIME System used by law enforcement officers statewide to check driver and vehicle records, criminal history records and warrants or stolen status of people and property. The bureau also operates the Handgun Hotline.
"Walt has a long and impressive career of working with the Wisconsin Department of Justice," said Van Hollen. "He is well respected throughout the Department and has done an outstanding job of managing the TIME System."
Neverman began his career with the State of Wisconsin as a Police Communications Operator for the Wisconsin State Patrol. He has held a number of positions with the Department of Justice, including serving as a Training Officer, the TIME System Operations Coordinator and as a Field Services Supervisor.
