WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE CONDUCTS TRAINING FOR NEW DISTRICT ATTORNEYS

MADISON - The Wisconsin Department of Justice today completed a two-day training session for Wisconsin's newly elected District Attorneys.

"As a former District Attorney I know the learning curve is steep in this very important job. The challenges faced by all of Wisconsin's District Attorneys today are very real," said Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen. "That's why this initial training and its introductions is just the beginning of the Department's relationship with these local law enforcement officials as we assist them and serve as a resource to fight crime, protect neighborhoods across the state and serve victims of crime. I look forward to the partnership."

The training included presentations from Assistant Attorneys General on Wisconsin's Public Records Law, Appellate Procedures, Employment Issues and Ethics. Division of Criminal Investigation Administrator Michael Myszewski, Crime Lab Director Gerald Geurts, Training & Standards Director Ken Hammond, and the Attorney General's Office of Crime Victim Services all assisted in bringing new District Attorneys up-to-speed on their duties and the services the Department provides to assist them in their mission.

Additionally, presentations from the Wisconsin District Attorneys Association, the Association of State Prosecutors, the State Prosecutor's Office and the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board rounded out the ambitious two days.
