ELKHORN - Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen met today with law enforcement leaders, elected officials, community leaders, judges, and public safety officials from throughout Walworth County at a law enforcement roundtable hosted by State Senator Neal Kedzie. State legislators joining Attorney General Van Hollen and Senator Kedzie included Representative Stephen Nass, Representative Thomas Lothian, and Representative Samantha Kerkman. Many topics were discussed at the roundtable, including illegal immigration, internet crimes against children, and drunk driving. The officials also discussed cooperation among law enforcement agencies to achieve their shared public safety mission.
"I would like to thank Senator Kedzie for organizing this roundtable. I would also like to thank all of the participants for attending and taking part in the discussions," Van Hollen said. "Every community in Wisconsin faces different public safety challenges. Today I was able to listen to local law enforcement and community leaders from Walworth County to better assess how the Department of Justice can be of further assistance to the concerns brought up today. It was also an opportunity for me to share more about our ongoing efforts at the Department of Justice."
"It was an honor to have the Attorney General come to Walworth County and listen to the concerns of those who keep our communities safe," Kedzie said. "I believe we all walked away from the meeting with a better understanding of how each of us can contribute to that mutual goal."
"State government is improved by meaningful dialogue with local leaders," Van Hollen continued. "I look forward to working with all participants on public safety issues in the future."
