MADISON - Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today that the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed and settled an environmental lawsuit in Oneida County Circuit Court. The State of Wisconsin brought this case against Dennis Swanson and Jeff Tucci, d/b/a Pelican Ranch Court, Inc. for violations of state laws that protect safe drinking water.
Pelican Ranch Court Inc. operated a public water supply system that served 38 households in Oneida County.
Swanson and Tucci agreed to pay penalties and costs totaling $4,000 for failing to sample and submit water treatment reports in a timely fashion to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR); failing to have a certified operator for their water system; and failing to notify the DNR that it advised the 38 households of the above violations.
"Accurate record keeping and timely reporting are essential regulatory requirements for assuring safe public drinking water," Van Hollen said. "DNR and DOJ will continue to work cooperatively to enforce these important laws."
Wisconsin Assistant Attorney General Mary Batt represented the state. Oneida County Circuit Court Judge Patrick F. O'Melia approved the settlement.
