MADISON - Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen issued a statement today thanking the State Senate and Assembly for their approval of his request for 31 additional positions at the State Crime Lab to address the backlog of DNA cases.
"I am very pleased members of the Wisconsin Legislature recognize the urgent need to address the DNA backlog and have responded positively to my request for these critical new positions with the goal of eliminating the backlog by 2010," Van Hollen said. "I am grateful for the bipartisan support this measure received in the Legislature."
The proposal now moves on to the Governor for his signature.
